COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE NWC HELD ON MONDAY 30th JULY, 2018

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE NWC HELD ON MONDAY 30th JULY, 2018

PDP-Logo

1. NWC considered unfolding developments and issues happening in Benue State, particularly as they concern the State House of Assembly and the stability of elected Government.

2. The NWC condemns in its entirety the purported sitting of eight APC members including the impeached and suspended Speaker; (in a 30 member House) wherein they illegally claimed to have served an impeachment notice on the Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom. PDP also condemns the use of the EFCC and DSS to harass and intimidate officials of the Benue State Government.

3. We note the roles played by the factional Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government and Sen. George Akume in encouraging lawless acts and anarchy in Benue State.

4. Party States that the actions and opinions expressed by Oshiomole on the decamping of Governor Ortom to the PDP as well as the deployment of Policemen by the Buhari led Federal Government to force the purported issuance of illegal impeachment notice on the Governor are acts intended to precipitate crisis for declaration of state of emergency in Benue.

5. It is on record that the erstwhile Speaker had been impeached, suspended and restrained by a court of competent jurisdiction from parading himself as Speaker.

6. In spite of this, it is shocking that no fewer than 300 Policemen were alleged to have escorted the impeached Speaker to the State House of Assembly to initiate a disgraceful and manifestly illegal process.

7. Our Party warns against deliberate acts which were maliciously designed to truncate democracy by employing underhand tactics to achieve what is inconceivable in a democracy.

8. The Party calls on the Nigerian Public, the civil society organizations and International Community to note the series of plots and deliberate attempts by the Buhari led APC Federal Government to cause mayhem in a State that is struggling to recover from a spate of killings and bloodletting.

9. We are aware that these plots were designed to scare away Nigerians, Including State Governors and Legislators, who are desirous of rallying with the PDP to rescue our nation from the misgovemance of the Buhari regime.

10. However, Party urges members to remain steadfast as no amount of intimidation, harassment and assault on processes would suppress the freedom of choice eminently guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution (as amended). This misadventure is dead on arrival and again demonstrates the desperation of this failed APC Federal Government.

11. PDP therefore urges its members, particularly in Benue State, to rise in defense of their rights and our hard earned democracy.

BY REGINA UMEHAM AND JOY IDAM AJAH.

PRINCE-2

Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere,
determined to keep his job, in yet another Master Stroke, has filed two fresh suits against the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Pascal and nine others to halt further actions of every impeachment move against him.

The Deputy Governor is seeking a declaration that the constitution of a seven-man panel to investigate the allegations of gross misconduct levelled by the Speaker and the Imo State House of Assembly, against him is invalid, unconstitutional, null and void.

The Deputy Governor prayed the Court to determine whether the Chief Judge can constitute a panel of seven persons to investigate the allegations levelled against him “after the expiry of seven days, from the date of the passing of the State House of Assembly’s purported motion and the Speaker’s request to the Chief Judge, having regard to the provisions of Section 188(5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, (as amended).”

Prince Madumere also sought to know if the Imo State Chief Judge can constitute a panel to investigate him while a legal suit with number HOW/531/2018 on the validity of the panel subsists.
He also wants the Court to determine whether the Chief Judge can legally constitute a panel of seven persons of unquestionable integrity, to investigate the allegations of gross misconduct made against the plaintiff by the Speaker and the State House of Assembly, during the pendency of suit number HOW/531/2018, instituted by the plaintiff against the Chief Judge, the Speaker and Imo State House of Assembly, in respect of the invalidity of the Assembly’s motion and the Speaker’s request to the Chief Judge to constitute the said panel.
According to Prince Madumere in his 12-paragraph affidavit, he has put the respondents on notice about the originating summons of an earlier suit over any action relating to his job as the Deputy Governor.

IMG-20180730-WA0004.jpg

The inaugural meeting of Enyi Kpakpando Vanguard held in ward 5 Ibusa. The meeting was hosted by Mr. Chuks Nwanze and sponsored by Barr. Dominic Okonmah.

The sole objective of the group is to project the 2019 senatorial ambition of Dr. Marian Nneamaka Ogoh Alli popularly known as Enyi Kpakpando for Delta North Senatorial district under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC). Addressing the massive audience, the local government Coordinator, Hon. John Azike reminded them the Enyi Kpakpando remains a household name in Delta North politics, hence she is no longer a political neophyte in the game. He reiterated all her past antecedents that have helped in projecting the cause of the entire people of Delta North right from PDP. He reeled out all the numerous benefits they stand to achieve if she is voted in to represent the district.

As the rampaging elephant she is, she believes in the welfare of her people. For this reason, she is ready to carry them along in the scheme of things. She felt that her people of Delta North has suffered enough misrepresentation in he hands of PDP over the years. He further said that the woman has already begun by making sure she paid all the dues for the officers in the local government during the last ward Congresses. She is kind and has a human heart, Azike continued.

He then urged the audience to ensure they spread the news and campaign for more members so that the aims of the group and the aspiration of their principal will be achieved.

Reacting, one of the ward leaders thanked the coordinator for a good address. He further promised him that they have had enough of PDP and their misrule, hence the need to seek for the desired change through a quality representation of Dr. Marian Alli. He then appealed to all the members present that the time to work is now.

2019: Sule Lamido Sends Panic To Other PDP Presidential Aspirants

PDP-Logo

The former governor of Jijawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido has told a large crowd in Bayelsa that he is the sole and authentic Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), that all the new comers will surely have membership lacuna.

Lamido who on Friday declared himself a sole presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 election, insisted that among all the presidential aspirants, he remained the only one without a membership lacuna.

He told PDP stakeholders in Bayelsa State to address him as the candidate and not as an aspirant, boasting that he would emerge the party candidate and eventually win the 2019 election.

Lamido, who was in Bayelsa to solicit support of the state chapter of the party for his ambition, claimed he is the only qualified PDP candidate to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

The former governor, who inaugurated some projects in the state, taunted other presidential aspirants, saying they were not committed and consistent members of the PDP and lacked the rights to vie for the party’s ticket.

He said: We want a thoroughbred PDP person. I came to see my brothers and sisters. We share the same concerns and commitments. Before you here is the candidate not an aspirant. Before you here is the President of Nigeria after our convention.

The statement was aimed at unsettling those who newly joined the party from other parties for the purpose of hunting for PDP presidential ticket, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar may have been one of the top targets in his statement.

According to Lamido, he has been a committed member of the PDP,  and has never defected or made any negative remarks about the party since he joined, unlike others who have been defecting from one party to the other, and to make matter bad, each time they want to leave PDP, they usually run it down in the media with all kinds of derogatory statements.

Another reports also says that the Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is also making moves to return back to PDP fold, to enable him also contest for the ticket, but with the latest onslaught from Lamido, it may be hard to settle the crisis that is likely to emanate as a result of his remarks.

But WAILERSNG.com findings suggests that other candidates who feared that there may be road blocks in clinching PDP ticket have started approaching ADP, SDP and ADC as the alternative political parties that can give them ticket. No doubt, some home based members of the PDP will pose greater threat to those who newly joined solely for the party’s ticket.

UTOMI HAILS ACTIVATION OF ITAKPE–ALADJA RAIL LINK

utomi-2.jpg

A landmark development event took place yesterday with a train journey from Itakpe in Kogi State to Aladja in Delta State.

Hearty congratulations to the Federal Government and the people of Delta State for this link into what has to be a spatial infrastructure development strategy that will accelerate the pace of development and job creation in Delta state

The fact that Abraka, a location at which Pat Utomi Support Hub (PUSH2019) met only last weekend on a retreat to plan for rescuing Delta state heard the sound of the whistle of a train is evidence that real progress is being heralded for the people of Delta.

As we praise President Buhari and his team for bringing alive this long-troubled project, we urge that it immediately fits into a web of intermodal transportation infrastructure that can open up sea facing Delta State to global trade based on the natural resource endowments of the state which include agricultural produce such as rubber, oil palm, cassava, etc and the hydrocarbon value chain.

We are also excited and thank Mr President for the recent approval by the Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA, for approval of contract to dredge the waterways to improve port utilization in Warri, Delta State.

Feeder roads from different economic zones in the state into places like Agbor and Abraka that are on the rail link will facilitate trade through the ports in Warri and environs.

Long live President Buhari
Long live Delta State!!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!

PRESIDENT BUHARI ATTENDS JOINT ECOWAS/ECCAS AND ECOWAS SUMMITS IN TOGO; MEETS NIGERIAN COMMUNITY

President Muhammadu Buhari will depart Abuja Sunday for Lome, Republic of Togo, to participate in two high-level meetings.
On arrival, the President will have an interactive session at the Nigerian embassy with the Nigerian community based in Togo.

On Monday, President Buhari will attend the Joint ECOWAS/ECCAS Summit which will deliberate on common security threats to countries in West Africa and members of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) with a view to forging concerted strategies in tackling the menace of terrorism, trans-border crimes and other forms of violent extremism.

It would be recalled that President Buhari had expressed support for the proposed ECOWAS/ECCAS Summit when he received the current Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Faure Gnassingbe of Togo on June 29, 2018 in Katsina.

According to him, “terrorism now transcends international boundaries, and no country can combat the scourge alone.”

While in Lome, the Nigerian delegation will also participate in a meeting on a Single Currency for ECOWAS with the deadline of 2020. Being the largest economy not only in West Africa but also on the continent, Nigeria’s leadership role in this sub-regional aspiration cannot be over-emphasised.

On Tuesday, President Buhari will join other leaders of the sub-region for the 53rd Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

This session will be dominated by the political and security situations in Guinea Bissau, Mali and Togo; institutional reforms of the ECOWAS Commission to enhance its effectiveness; illegal migration of Africans to Europe; and the worrisome violent clashes between herders and farmers, among other issues.

At the end of the session, a new Chair of the ECOWAS Authority is expected to take over from the incumbent and host.

President Buhari will be accompanied by Governors Ben Ayade and Abubakar Bello of Cross River and Niger States respectively. Others are Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali; Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun; Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazau; and the Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah.

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno; the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin; the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar; and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, are also in the President’s delegation.
