UPDATE ON COUNTER-TERRORISM CAMPAIGN:

TERRORISTS MUST BE DENIED ANY GROUND AND CHANCES FOR MAYHEM-ARMY CHIEF.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen  Kenneth Minimah, has  charged officers and soldiers involved in the ongoing counterterrorist  operations in the Northeast, to ensure that the terrorists do not have any ground or opportunity to breach security and perpetrate atrocities in any part of the areas of responsibility in the campaign.
The Army Chief  stated this  in Maiduguri  on Wednesday  while addressing officers in Giwa Barracks in the course of his operational tour to check on the deployment & disposition of troops  in the theatre of counterterrorist campaign  covering Borno, Yobe and Adamawa  states. Gen Minimah who  commended the troops for their resilience in the ongoing offensive  against the terrorists, also assured them that all necessary efforts were being made  to ensure that  troops did not lack any requirement that is considered vital to accelerating  the success of the mission. He however warned against any form of indiscipline  or mishandling  of equipment available for the  operation at the moment.

Continuing, the  Chief of Army Staff emphasized the need for  officers to continue to give required leadership to the men . “All the

The Commander of the hospital, Brig Gen Ike Okeke, while briefing the service chiefs, stated that most of the  wounded soldiers were now in stable condition and  some of them have  expressed the desire to rejoin their units & colleagues in the operation . The army chief however directed that the hospital should  forward to him directly, any requirement for whichever case that required referral for further treatment any where in world.

The service chiefs also conducted a comprehensive air surveillance  of the entire mission area covering Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states in addition to the direct inspection of some key locations. They told reporters who accosted them for separate interviews in Maiduguri  that they were satisfied  with the progress of the operations & performance of the deployment so far,  noting that substantial expectations of the counterterrorist campaign was being achieved satisfactorily.

New WaterAid report: International aid failing to reach neediest and ‘exacerbating’ inequalities

Dear All,

Water for all

Water for all

Just $1.26 has been received in water and sanitation aid for each person in Nigeria on average for the years 2010-2012, according to a startling new report, Bridging the Divide, released by the international development charity WaterAid on the eve of World Water Day (22 March 2014).

The report highlights that out of the world’s 48 poorest nations (categorised by the UN as Least Developed Countries) just eight are among the top ten aid recipients for water and sanitation aid in any of the last six years. It goes on to further demonstrates that international water and sanitation aid is failing to reach those in greatest need, exacerbating global inequalities rather than reducing them.

Today in Abuja Hon Minister Foreign Affairs Amb Aminu Wali said Nigeria’s position of not recognising Kosovo will not change until the right thing is done.

He made this statement while receiving the European Union Ambassadors in Nigeria the delegation was led by Michelle Awion.

Amb Wali commended the EU for the Financial support to INEC ahead of the 2015 general elections as well as the technical support in preparing the Police and other Security agencies who will participate in the elections.

Similarly the Nigerian MFA assured the EU delegation of Nigeria’s support over the Crimea issues at the next meeting over sanctions on Russia who are currently suspended from the G8.

He also lobbied the EU not to sanction Nigeria over her refusal to ascent to the gay law. The National Assembly he noted had voted against it.

According to Nigeria’s Foreign Minister Gay Laws are totally alien to Africa and especially Nigeria. We are a highly religious nation and our religion n Culture frowns over such.

However he assured the EU team that Nigeria will continue to respect the fundamental rights of Nigerians. Adding that no Nigerian have been hurt on account of his sexual inclinations.
